The Keyoh Cabin was developed with Nak’azdli Development Corporation as a lightweight, prefabricated shelter that could be transported into remote forest locations and assembled on site. Conceived as a simple kit of 4’ x 8’ panelized components, the cabin is designed to be small enough to transport by trailer and quad, while providing a durable one-room refuge for land-based use. The form draws from the idea of the pit house, with a central roof skylight bringing daylight into the interior even when the cabin is fully closed up between visits.
Inside, the cabin provides a simple flexible living space with partial dividing walls, a stove, and an area for food preparation and washing, without the complexity of plumbing. Clad in plywood and painted red, the cabin is intended as a modest but elegant structure that can be clearly seen in the forest while remaining practical, robust, and easy to assemble.
