Timber House is a mass timber housing collaboration between the Nak’azdli Development Corporation, Deadwood Innovations, Prakash Architecture Inc., Gehlhoff Consulting, and with support from the University of Northern British Columbia, and the National Research Council of Canada. This project is dedicated to exploring innovative approaches to sustainable housing and economic development within the Nak’azdli Economic Corridor.

The project utilizes value-added technology to densify aspen lumber which improves its structural integrity for use in mass timber products. A component of this project involves exploring sustainable harvesting methods for Aspen, aimed at fostering healthier and more resilient forests.

This project leverages our experience in prefabrication with the A-Frame Cabin to create a housing prototype that is both flexible and scalable offering a multitude of layouts and houses of different scales. The panels comprising the house kits are made of densified aspen which are nail laminated, giving the interior a mass wood appearance.
